Libraries locations expand hours and services Dec. 6-18, support more late buses

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Pattee Library and Paterno Library on the University Park campus are expanding hours and services Dec. 6-18 on the University Park campus to help students with end-of-the-semester research and finals study needs. In addition, the Libraries is sponsoring later on-campus bus service Sundays-Wednesdays during the last week of fall classes and finals week.

Nearly all of Pattee and Paterno will open at 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, for continuous, 24-hour service until closing at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18. This includes the Tombros and McWhirter Knowledge Commons on the first and ground floors of Pattee Library, west and ground floor central. The Eberly Special Collections Library will maintain standard operating hours.

Within the two buildings a variety of group study rooms for two to 16 people can be reserved. Monitors at the entrances to the building display real-time computer availability.

Coffee and snacks will be provided by the Libraries in 103 Paterno Library, 3-8 p.m. Dec. 13-15 as part of the Libraries' end-of-semester DeStress Fest. Other University Park subject library locations also will offer snacks, puzzles and other activities; contact each location for times and dates.

For late-night hunger, MacKinnon's Café, at ground level west Pattee Library, will be open until 11 p.m. beginning Friday, Dec. 11, and until 1 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, through Wednesday, Dec. 16 (1 a.m. Dec. 17). For a full list of hours, call the café at 814-865-9380.

Additional branch library locations include the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library, Earth and Mineral Sciences Library, Engineering Library, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library. Late-night CATA bus service -- on campus only -- will run until approximately 2:15 a.m. daily, Dec. 6-19, with the last pickup at the Curtin Road transport station. The extended service those Sundays through Wednesdays is courtesy of Information Technology Services and the University Libraries.

In addition, the University Police's Auxiliary Police division offers a “Safe Walk” escort service, dusk to dawn, 365 days a year, to an on-campus location or home within a reasonable walking distance off campus. Call 814-865-9255 (865-WALK).
