MONACA, Pa. — Penn State Beaver has received a $50,000 award from Lincoln Learning Solutions, a Beaver County-based nonprofit, to create a scholarship endowment to support need-based financial aid for academically qualified students. The University will match the gift 1:1 through the First Time Endowed Scholarship Donor Matching Program, a featured giving opportunity of "A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence."
The Lincoln Learning Solutions Endowed Scholarship will be open to any full-time undergraduate student enrolled or planning to enroll at Penn State Beaver. Recipients of the scholarships made possible by this gift must be majoring in a degree program that focuses on science, technology, engineering or math — also known as STEM.
Recipients must also demonstrate financial need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses.
“Lincoln Learning Solutions’ goal is to support talented students who are pursuing a STEM education by relieving part of their student loan burden with the help of scholarship funds,” said Bob Clements, CEO of Lincoln Learning Solutions.
“We are grateful to Lincoln Learning Solutions for its extraordinary generosity and its belief in our institution," said Penn State Beaver Chancellor Jenifer Cushman. "The endowment will ensure that future generations have access to higher education, which is among our highest priorities.”
First preference will be given to students who graduate from any high school located in Beaver County. If no students meet the preferences in a given year, or if there are sufficient funds to award additional scholarships beyond the eligible recipients, available funds will be awarded to any student regardless of preference.
Each scholarship will be awarded for one academic year and may be resubmitted for subsequent years if the recipient continues to meet eligibility conditions and funds are available.
The First-Time Endowed Scholarship Donor Matching Program benefits donors who are creating their first undergraduate scholarship endowment at the University. The program will be available through June 30, 2021, or until available matching funds have been expended.
Lincoln Learning Solutions idevelops and delivers PreK-12 online curriculum.
