ERIE, Pa. — Pittsburgh-area accountants and accounting students have a new advanced-degree option: Starting in August, Penn State will offer its hybrid Master of Professional Accounting degree program in Cranberry Township in Butler County.
The Master of Professional Accounting program will be delivered primarily online, with four evening classroom meetings per course held at the Regional Learning Alliance at 850 Cranberry Woods Drive.
The 30-credit program can be completed in one year of full-time study, or two years if pursued part time. The curriculum satisfies the educational requirements needed for Certified Public Accountant licensure in most U.S. states and territories. Graduate faculty from the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend teach coursework covering the financial and legal complexities found in public accounting, including strategic tax and business planning, reporting and auditing, commercial transactions, and forensic accounting.
Applications to begin the program in fall 2019 will be accepted through Monday, July 22. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in accounting or a business degree with an emphasis on accounting. Submission of GMAT scores is not required.
