UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Moses Ling, associate professor of architectural engineering at Penn State, has been elected president of the American Society of Civil Engineers Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI).
He will begin his one-year term Oct. 1.
Ling has been president-elect of AEI since last October. He will spend an additional year, following his presidency, serving as the organization's past president, for a total commitment of three years in AEI leadership.
Ling said, "The Department of Architectural Engineering at Penn State has long promoted integration of building systems and architecture as a core principle of building design and construction. In recent years, AEI has made integrated building solutions central to the mission of the organization. I am excited to participate in furthering this practice in the profession through the efforts of this organization."
Ling joined Penn State as an instructor in architectural engineering in 1981. He became assistant professor in 1986, undergraduate program officer in 2003 and associate professor 2004.
Prior to beginning his academic career at Penn State, Ling held positions at several national architectural engineering firms, including Leo A. Daly Company, Ellerbe and Cannon Design.
His awards and honors include the 2009 and 2013 Penn State Engineering Alumni Society Outstanding Advising Award and the 2011 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award.
Ling holds his bachelor's and master's degrees in architectural engineering from Penn State.
