National Transfer Student Week will be celebrated Oct. 18 to 22

Join the entire Penn State community in celebrating transfer students during National Transfer Student Week (NTSW), from Oct. 18 to 22.  Organized by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS), National Transfer Student Week is an annual event held during the third week of October. Per the NISTS website, all are encouraged to join the event “to challenge assumptions, build empathy, and instill transfer pride on your campus."

This summer, Penn State’s Transfer Governance Council tasked a sub-committee to plan events in celebration of National Transfer Student Week.  The group, comprised of staff from admissions offices at multiple campuses, the World Campus, Student Orientation and Transition Programs, and faculty, have collaborated with faculty and staff from around the commonwealth to highlight programming during NTSW.

This is the first year in which events will be presented collectively to the entire University community. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to view the events being held at their campus, virtually or in-person, on the Undergraduate Admissions website: https://admissions.psu.edu/ntsw.

"We are excited to introduce events that highlight our great transfer students from around the University," said Lindsay Bolt, assistant director for transfer admission, Undergraduate Admissions Office."In addition to events for our prospective and current students, the sub-committee plans to conduct various training opportunities for current faculty and staff regarding transfer admission and credit articulation."

Events include a Transfer Showcase for admissions staff at all campuses, student panels at various campuses, and multiple college fairs at Pennsylvania community colleges with representatives from Penn State campuses in attendance.

Current and prospective transfer students are welcome to drop-in at the Undergraduate Admissions Office at University Park, 201 Shields Building, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for questions about transfer admission requirements or transferring credits from other institutions.  Virtual and in-person appointments are available at multiple campuses at admissions.psu.edu/visit.

Penn State received applications from nearly 6,500 transfer students for Summer and Fall 2021, at all campuses, including the World Campus.  More information about transfer admissions, transfer credit, and transfer resources can be found on the Prior Learning Assessment website: https://priorlearning.psu.edu/transfer-students.
