UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As students begin to develop their academic plans for summer, Penn State has published a historical class search tool that can aid in their planning. The search tool includes undergraduate and graduate summer courses offered at every Penn State campus in 2019 and 2020 and provides a good indication of what will be offered this summer.

Students can access the search tool on the Registar’s website. The University has not yet published the official course schedule for summer 2021, given the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and unknowns related to course delivery mode. While inclusion of a course in the search tool does not guarantee that the course will be offered during summer 2021, the offerings at each campus this summer are likely to be similar to recent summers.

The search tool enables users to search for courses by campus, course abbreviation, and year and session offered, in addition to the General Education requirements a course meets and the cultural diversity components it includes. Once a user identifies a course of interest, they can read a full course description in the University Bulletins.

The search tool does not list opportunities for internships, special topics courses, independent study, research and study abroad. Students should consult directly with their academic programs regarding these opportunities.

This summer, as during the 2020-21 academic year, students will have the flexibility to take courses at any Penn State campus. More information about 2021 Summer Sessions, including the official schedule of courses and the timetable for when students can register, will be forthcoming.
