UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Applications are now open for the 2019 Outstanding Adult Student Award and will be accepted until March 1.
The award is meant to recognize outstanding adult learners at Penn State. These are students who are juggling multiple roles, overcome obstacles, and have academically succeeded all while perusing their undergraduate degree.
To be eligible, students must be starting or resuming a degree and be over the age of 24 or out of high school for four or more years. Nominees must be enrolled at the University Park campus either full or part time; have completed a minimum of 45 credits with at least 30 of the credits earned at Penn State prior to nomination; earn a minimum 3.0 GPA; and demonstrate campus participation, co-curricular and/or with community organizations.
The winner will be announced at the annual award reception on April 4.
The application can be found on the Adult Student Awards tab on the Adult Learner Programs and Services website.
The Adult Learner Programs and Services office provides advocacy, mentorship, programming and resources that are helpful to nontraditional aged undergraduate students who are continuing their education. The office looks forward to receiving nominations of worthy adult or veteran students. Donations to support the awards also are being accepted on the Adult Learner Opportunity Fund at Penn State.
