UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An “open house” for a school bus a Penn State student has converted into a tiny home will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 near the Berkey Creamery on the University Park campus.

Sam Reiser, a senior telecommunications major from Melbourne, Australia, has transformed what was a 65-seat Blue Bird International bus into a mobile home. As he graduates and begins his career, Reiser plans to live in the 33-foot-long bus no matter where he finds his first job.

Reiser recently earned third place in the multimedia division of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation’s Journalism Awards Program for a story about his world travels. Those travels inspired his bus-to-tiny home transformation.

Reiser has maintained a blog with photos chronicling the bus-building process, and the open house opportunity — the white bus will be parked along Curtin Road between the Creamery and the Ag Administration Building — will allow the public to tour the nearly complete tiny home on wheels.
