UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Each year, Penn State recognizes outstanding faculty and staff with annual awards in teaching and excellence. The invitation-only ceremony for the 2019 awards will be held Tuesday, April 2, at University Park.

Undergraduate faculty teaching awards

• The Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching — Mark Brennan, professor and UNESCO Chair in Community, Leadership, and Youth Development in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and Ali Kara, professor of business administration at Penn State York
• The George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching — Andrew Baxter, associate teaching professor in the Eberly College of Science; Jacqueline Bortiatynski, associate teaching professor in the Eberly College of Science; Liliana Naydan, assistant professor of English at Penn State Abington; Sarah K. • The President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Integration — Michael Berkman, professor of political science in the College of the Liberal Arts
• The President’s Award for Engagement with Students — Krista Wilkinson, professor of communication sciences and disorders in the College of Health and Human Development
• The Undergraduate Program Leadership Award —R. Allen Kimel, associate teaching professor of materials science and engineering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences 
• The Teaching and Learning with Technology Impact Award — Laura Guertin, professor of earth science at Penn State Brandywine, and Timothy W. Simpson, Paul Morrow Professor of Engineering Design and Manufacturing in the College of Engineering

• The Howard B. Palmer Faculty Mentoring Award — Katriona Shea, alumni professor of biology in the Eberly College of Science
• The Graduate Faculty Teaching Award — Alan MacEachren, professor of geography in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, and Esther Prins, professor of education in the College of Education
• The Graduate School Alumni Society Graduate Program Chair Leadership Award — Suzanne Mohney, professor of materials science and engineering and electrical engineering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences
