LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus honored 18 graduates from the inaugural cohort in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program on May 4 in an annual pinning ceremony.
Penn State Fayette enrolled the first cohort of the BSN program in the fall of 2014, following the discontinuation of the associate degree in nursing program.
The traditional pinning ceremony invites each student’s honored guest to place an official pin on his or her lapel while the student’s personal statement of gratitude is read.
Wendy Edgar served as keynote speaker. Edgar is a nurse practitioner at Jefferson Hospital and a member of the executive committee of the Health and Human Development Alumni Society Board. She is also co-chair of the Probationary Nursing Alumni Society.
Emily Fordyce was selected by her classmates as Student Representative. Fordyce served as the President for the Student Nurses Association of Pa (SNAP), Fayette Chapter.
Micah High, a graduating BSN student and violinist, and Damien Zsiros, a nursing instructor at Fayette and pianist, gave a musical performance of “You Raise Me Up” by Secret Garden.
