Eric Macker, a senior majoring in administration of justice, was selected as the October student of the month.
“He is a full-time student who finds the time and dedication to be involved in his community,” his nominator wrote.
A graduate of Shenandoah Valley Junior/Senior High School, Macker supports numerous community activities in the Shenandoah area. He is a volunteer firefighter for Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1, where he has served as a safety officer for four years, lieutenant for one year, and vice president for one year, and the Friendship Fire Company of Englewood. He also volunteers with the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association and is a member of the Shenandoah Police Department Holiday Committee and Shenandoah Holiday Lighting Committee, raising money for the community and helping decorate the downtown during the holiday season.
“He does all this for his community and maintains high academic standards,” his nominator wrote.
Macker is the son of Robert and Mary Kay Macker, of Shenandoah.
