Penn State Lehigh Valley announces new faculty appointments

Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following appointments to its faculty:

Kermit Burley has been appointed coordinator and full-time instructor in Information Sciences and Technology. Burley received a master of education degree in instructional design from Penn State. He had previously served as a training lead at Hewlett-Packard in Herndon, Virginia. Burley currently resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Tracy Carbonetto has been appointed full-time instructor in engineering. She received a master of science degree in metallurgy and materials engineering from Lehigh University and a master of business administration from Holy Family University. She previously was an adjunct professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State Lehigh Valley and served as a principal materials engineer at Tioga Pipe Inc., in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Carbonetto currently resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Nickolas Dominello, has been appointed full-time instructor in psychology. He received his doctor of psychology degree from Capella University. He previously was an adjunct instructor at Penn State Abington and Holy Family University. Dominello still occasionally facilitates online courses for Southern New Hampshire University, Thomas Edison State College and Ashford University. Dominello currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Teri Kistler has been appointed full-time instructor in rehabilitation and human services. She received a master of social work from Marywood University. She previously was an adjunct instructor in rehabilitation and human services at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Kistler still works as a contractor for Lehigh Valley Drug and Alcohol Intake Unit in Allentown, Pennsylvania and Bucks County Juvenile Probation in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Kistler currently resides in Coplay, Pennsylvania.

Beth Michalec has been appointed full-time instructor in corporate communication. She received a master of science from West Virginia University and is currently working toward a doctorate in philosophy in rhetoric and communication from Duquesne University. She had previously taught at Bloomsburg University and she ran marketing and public relations for a nonprofit in the Pittsburgh area. Michalec currently resides in Whitehall, Pennsylvania.

Anita Serrano has been appointed full-time instructor in Spanish. She received a master of arts in Spanish from the University of Colorado. She previously was an adjunct professor at Penn State and Northampton Community College.  Serrano currently resides in Denver, Pennsylvania.

Lynette Smith has been appointed full-time instructor in English. She received a master of education degree in reading education from Hood College. She has previously served as principal of Ironton Elementary School in Allentown, Pennsylvania and was an instructor in language and literacy at Penn State Lehigh Valley.  Smith currently resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
