UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Business professionals who want a graduate-level supply chain education from Penn State can now enroll in the University’s spring semester instead of waiting to start next fall.

Penn State is accepting applications for admission in its top-ranked online Master of Supply Chain Management program for the spring 2021 semester, which starts in January. The second application window in the 2020-21 academic year is one of several updates to the supply chain management program aimed at providing students the chance to tailor their education to their individual needs.

The deadline to apply for spring 2021 enrollment is Dec. 1.

The program is led by the internationally ranked Smeal College of Business and delivered online through Penn State World Campus.

“Today’s adult learners want a graduate business degree program that is flexible and will let them fit it into their already busy lives,” said David J. Huff, director of online graduate programs in supply chain for the Smeal College. “Students can now apply to join our program in the spring semester, and we are excited to be able to expand our supply chain management education to more students who are looking to advance their knowledge and education in this field.”

The curriculum addresses today’s critical supply chain challenges, such as the flow of goods, understanding the relationship between supply chain decisions and the firm’s primary financial measures; integrating supply chain components; organizational change and more.

Earlier this year, the graduate supply chain program again was ranked No. 1 by Gartner, a global research and advisory firm. Gartner has ranked Penn State as the top university in the country for graduate supply chain management education since 2009.

Another update to the program is a waiver of the GMAT/GRE exam requirement for the following applicants:

  • Those with five years of experience
  • Penn State Smeal College of Business graduates with two years of experience
  • Students currently pursuing the Penn State Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management through Penn State World Campus
  • Students who hold a master’s degree from an AACSB-accredited business school

Students will take four core courses in supply chain management. The remaining courses are advanced courses in supply chain management and two electives. Students can choose from electives in supply chain course work, or they can choose electives in other fields, such as corporate innovation, business analytics, entrepreneurship, accounting, business administration and management.

The credits from the core courses may be applied to the graduate certificate in supply chain management.
