UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Resort and Commercial Recreation Association (RCRA) presented the 2015 Outstanding Student Award to Penn State student Lisa Halat, a senior studying recreation, park, and tourism management at Penn State, at the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association’s annual conference.

The RCRA Outstanding Student Award recognizes the student or intern member who has worked to make a positive contribution to the association, his or her property, or university/college.

Halat serves as president and previously served as the professional development chair for the Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management Student Society at Penn State and has been the driving force in organizing and applying for funds from the University for students to attend the RCRA National Conference.

In addition to engaging recreation student involvement at Penn State, Halat has been an active member of RCRA for three years, serving most recently on the Social Committee. Halat received the award in recognition of her continued enthusiasm and commitment to the field of commercial recreation and tourism at Penn State and within RCRA.

Halat received the award in November at the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, Florida.
