UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A new Penn State website is streamlining the way veterans, service members and military dependents access important information and begin their studies at the University. The website — veterans.psu.edu — is home to information for current and future military-connected students, including resources related to the GI Bill, benefits, policies, veteran programming and services, and more.
“Our military-connected students are an integral part of our Penn State community and we strive to do all we can as an institution of higher learning to support and honor their unique needs and recognize their life experiences,” said Col. Eugene McFeely, Penn State’s senior director for veterans affairs and services. “We intend this one-stop resource to help ease your transition as you become a Penn State student and to provide guidance as you work toward your educational and career goals.”
As a go-to resource, the website provides information about the full range of University programs and resources available for current and future military-connected Penn State students, including:
- Application fee waiver
- Child care subsidy
- Credit for military experience and training
- Financial aid
- GI Bill and veteran education benefits
- Legal clinic
- VA work study
- Scholarships
Today, more than 5,600 Penn State students use the GI Bill as either an active-duty service member, a reservist, veteran or military dependent, across all the University’s campuses, including Penn State World Campus.
The Office of Veterans Affairs and Services supports military-connected students by enabling their access to higher education and empowering them to succeed while at Penn State and as they transition to post-education endeavors.
Along with the dedicated office, the University also has a Student Veteran Center at University Park to serve as a central hub for about 1,000 military-connected students to access a variety of important services, as well as the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness, which is committed to enhancing programs for military families nationwide.
In addition to year-round programming, each fall Penn State celebrates its annual Military Appreciation Week, giving University and local community members an opportunity to honor and celebrate those who serve or have served in the U.S armed forces.
