UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State World Campus is now accepting applications for a new graduate certificate program that can help professionals working in the criminal justice field build their knowledge and advance their careers in global security.
The nine-credit graduate certificate program in global justice and security is being offered online through Penn State World Campus in partnership with the College of the Liberal Arts Department of Sociology and Criminology and the Penn State Harrisburg School of Public Affairs.
As global criminal activity has increased in recent years, international security organizations and national criminal justice agencies have also intensified their effort to stop and prevent criminal activity around the world.
“The certificate is ideal for both domestic and international criminal justice practitioners who desire to expand their knowledge and skills in global justice and security issues, and international criminal justice organizations," said Ahmet Guler, assistant teaching professor of criminology and lead faculty member for the new certificate program.
The three courses of the certificate program cover how international criminal justice organizations function; how police organizations respond to global terrorism; and how international, regional and national collaborative efforts prevent transnational crime activities such as human, firearm and drug trafficking.
Graduates of the certificate program can be well-prepared to work in international criminal justice organizations and international security agencies, as well as global, private and nonprofit organizations in roles such as international security officers, advisers, specialists, managers and more.
Certificate credits may also be applied to the Master of Professional Studies in Criminal Justice Policy and Administration program, also offered online through Penn State World Campus. Students must apply and be accepted to the master’s degree program.
