UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State World Campus has been ranked No. 1 for online undergraduate programs for veterans by U.S. News and World Report, according to the 2015 rankings released Tuesday, May 19.

World Campus topped the list of 185 institutions from around the country that offer undergraduate degrees. World Campus also was ranked in the top 5 for several graduate programs.

The rankings weighed academic reputation, accessibility and affordability.

“We are honored that U.S. News recognizes our commitment to making Penn State World Campus a place where veterans can succeed,” said Craig Weidemann, vice president for outreach and vice provost for online education at Penn State. “We owe veterans our best efforts to give them access to a high-quality, affordable education.”

U.S. News recognized the World Campus’s high-quality academics in January with the No. 1 ranking for overall best online undergraduate programs. That was factored into the veterans ranking.

U.S. News also considered World Campus’s participation in the federal GI Bill program and Yellow Ribbon Program, both of which help reduce veterans’ tuition bills.

Five online graduate programs offered through World Campus also were recognized by U.S. News in the best-for-veterans rankings:

  • Computer information technology programs, No. 4
  • Education programs, No. 4
  • Engineering programs, No. 4
  • Business programs, No. 4
  • MBA programs, No. 5

In addition to the federal initiatives, World Campus offers a grant-in-aid program that lowers the cost of undergraduate tuition up to 44 percent for service members and their spouses.
