MONT ALTO, Pa. — Faculty members will describe a multi-year study, which involved collecting data to examine various personal and academic characteristics to predict student persistence in their academic programs, during a Penn State Mont Alto Colloquy Series talk from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. March 13, in the Heritage Room of The Mill Café. The talk is open to the public and free of charge. Participants can purchase their lunch in The Mill and dine during the talk. Coffee and cookies are provided. Discussion is encouraged.
Those involved with the project include Penn State Mont Alto faculty members Renee Borromeo, Elizabeth Brantley, Jackie Schwab and Robin Yaure; Penn State Altoona’s Lauren Jacobsen-McConnell; and Penn State Harrisburg’s Ana Hermida.
The goal of this study is to identify factors that predict student persistence and then to see if Penn State can help students develop those characteristics, such as grit or resilience, in addition to their academic skills.
The Faculty and Staff Colloquy Series presents current faculty research and staff expertise in an informal environment at a level that is accessible to a general audience.
