UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As the 2016 election heats up, Penn State academics are turning their eyes — and their research — toward the ongoing race and the many topics that have made national headlines. A new blog — Election 2016: Research Behind the Race — collects research-based commentary and insight into many campaign-related topics all in one place.

Two recent posts cover the rules, implications and incentives of Tuesday's primary and the primary's role in the presidential nomination process. Pennsylvania's primary will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, April 26), and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can look up their polling place online.

Other blog posts explore the presidential election, the general state of U.S. politics and timely and hot button policy issues, including education, climate science and gun policy.

Penn State has a wide range of faculty members and researchers who contribute to an open, public dialogue on important political issues across the state, nation and world. The views expressed on the site are not those of Penn State. Instead, the commentary and research are those uncovered by Penn State’s scholarly political experts.
