According to ASTM, the recognition is for members who have demonstrated the potential to be industry and ASTM committee leaders. Globally, the society provides more than 12,000 materials testing standards and best practices across hundreds of industries.

Manogharan serves on the ASTM Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies, which develops standards for 3D printing technologies.

“I am honored and humbled by this recognition by the world's leading organization in standards for testing of materials, which has been the flagship organization for over 120 years now,” he said. “This offers an excellent opportunity to both learn best practices in standards development and contribute from my background in additive manufacturing.”

As an EP, Manogharan will undergo training, attend workshops and participate in technical committees to prepare him for a future leadership position in the society. He is one of nine members chosen for this honor in 2021.

“Dr. Manogharan’s accomplishments are very impressive for an early career faculty member,” said Karen A. Thole, distinguished professor and mechanical engineering department head. “His recognitions are all very well deserved.”
