UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising has named Brian Redmond, associate teaching professor at the School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) and lead faculty member for the Organizational Leadership (OLEAD) program, as the winner of this year’s Region 2 Outstanding Advocate for Academic Advising.
This award recognizes administrators for their exemplary role and significant contributions to the academic advising community, in particular those who advocate for advising in the academic process of higher education to ensure student success.
“Academic advising is a critical piece of our students’ success in completing their OLEAD degrees at the World Campus,” Redmond stated. “I’m happy to assist them [the advisers] in that process and thank them for the hard work that they put in to make students’ dreams come true.”

Redmond was notified he was selected as the recipient of the advocate award on Dec. 20 and he will be recognized at the NACADA Region 2 annual conference held Mar. 13-15 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Region 2 encompasses the Mid-Atlantic region: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
NACADA has more than 12,000 members from the United States, including Puerto Rico, Canada and several other international countries. Their organization is focused on advancing the field of academic advising in higher education to enhance the educational development of students.
