UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty who want to use G Suite for Education tools in the classroom but aren’t sure where to start can now sign up here to receive bite-sized ‘getting started’ tutorial videos via email each week.

Google, in partnership with Penn State IT Learning and Development, offers a seven-week training program that delivers tutorials for Google apps directly to faculty members' inbox at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Each lesson takes less than 15 minutes to complete and provides basic training videos to get started with G Suite for Education.

Faculty members can learn the basics of Google apps and get ideas for how to use these applications with their classes. Each lesson contains short videos on a multitude of topics ranging from creating to customizing, sharing and gathering data. Faculty members can choose to watch every video in a lesson, or only those that suit their needs. Each lesson also includes a check for understanding, an interactive summary, and an easy-to-access “cheat sheet” for continued learning.

The email series is comprised of seven weeks’ worth of content, to include:

  • Email confirmation upon registering
  • Week 1: Google Drive
  • Week 2: Google Docs
  • Week 3: Google Classroom
  • Week 4: Google Forms
  • Week 5: Google Slides
  • Week 6: Google Sheets
  • Week 7: Google Sites
  • Wrap-up Email
