UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Thinking about creating a blended course? How you will retain the quality of your face-to-face course as you modify your delivery? Can you do it on your own? The answer to these questions might be found by participating in the Blendkitmassive open online course (MOOC) 2016 from the University of Central Florida.
This spring the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence (SITE) will be coordinating campus cohorts for the Blendkit MOOC, which began Feb. 22. These cohorts will enable faculty to participate in the MOOC and discuss the content within the Penn State framework.
The BlendKit Course is a set of subject-matter neutral, open educational resources related to blended learning developed by Kelvin Thompson and available for self-study or for group use. The goal of the BlendKit Course is to provide assistance in designing and developing a blended learning course via a consideration of key issues related to blended learning and practical step-by-step guidance in helping produce actual materials for your blended course (i.e., from design documents through creating content pages to peer review feedback).
During the 10-week course there are both synchronous and asynchronous sessions. The schedule is available at https://blended.online.ucf.edu/blendkit-course-schedule/.
There is no fee to participate in the MOOC; however, at the end of the 10-week course, there is an opportunity for participants to earn a certificate by submitting a portfolio for evaluation. There is an $89 fee for this evaluation, and SITE is offering to support this fee for a limited number of participants on a first-come first-served basis. You may also participate in the MOOC and cohorts without submitting a portfolio for evaluation.
If you would like to participate in a course cohort and/or lead a campus cohort, please register on our website. You must register at SITE if you intend to submit a portfolio for assessment or wish to be included in a cohort. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Decker Raynak at cdr1@psu.edu.
More information and registration to participate in the MOOC is available on the University of Central Florida website. You must register for the UCS Blendkit MOOC in order to participate in the course.
