UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence is offering up to 300 grants to cover registration for the virtual International Teaching and Learning Cooperative Network Lilly Conference from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. Faculty members of any rank or title, graduate assistants, teaching assistants, post-docs or members of the learning design community are welcome to attend. The Lilly Conferences, typically held in multiple cities throughout the year, bring together educators from many disciplines to share best teaching practices.
More information and a link to the grant sign-up form can be found at schreyerinstitute.psu.edu. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 13, and grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who registered for the conference on their own may be eligible to receive a refund from the conference organizers.
The Lilly Conferences regularly feature workshop and poster presentations by Penn State faculty and staff.
"Past attendees said they consider the conferences to be consistent sources of pedagogical inspiration and innovation, and they report having forged connections with other people who share a love for teaching and learning, even through virtual attendance," said Mary Ann Tobin, assistant research professor, Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.
The five days of conference programming will feature a variety of synchronous and asynchronous sessions, 10 traditional plenary addresses, facilitated roundtable discussions and poster presentations. Tracks advertised at the conference website include assessment; classroom community/culture; course (re)design; educational theory/pedagogy; faculty development programming; universal design for learning; instructional strategies; increasing success of marginalized students; teaching online or hybrid courses; open educational resources; and curating course content.
