UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jennifer Eury, a clinical assistant professor of management and organization at the Penn State Smeal College of Business, is one of five Penn State faculty members selected as a fellow in the Faculty Academy for Engaged Scholarship during the 2018-19 academic year.
The Faculty Academy accepts proposals annually, and is intended to deepen University-wide discourse, practice and recognition of engaged scholarship at Penn State. The fellows spend a year focusing on developing models of engagement in courses and fieldwork.
Eury, who is an affiliate faculty member in the Rock Ethics Institute at Penn State, is responsible for the development and teaching of the core management course in Smeal’s business fundamentals certificate program. Prior to joining the Smeal faculty, Eury served as the college’s honor and integrity director.
Selection to the academy was based on: quality and relevance of past engaged scholarship activities; desire to deepen the campus-wide discourse, practice and recognition of engaged scholarship at Penn State; quality and relevance of proposal for future engaged scholarship activities; capacity to disseminate information about the project to the broader campus community; and capacity to contribute as a campus leader or mentor in engaged scholarship.
The Student Engagement Network is the evolution of Penn State’s Engaged Scholarship Council, a group that consisted of faculty, staff and students from across the University to advance engaged teaching, research and service at Penn State. In its current form, the Student Engagement Network will work to enhance curricular and co-curricular opportunities for Penn State undergraduate students through student engagement, engaged scholarship and community partnerships.
The Student Engagement Network is a joint initiative between Undergraduate Education, Student Affairs, and Outreach and Online Education. The network's mission is to advance the power of participation by connecting students with experiences that empower them to make a positive impact as citizens and leaders of the world.
