UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's School of Public Policy will host a series of webinar presentations about the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. Sessions will be offered throughout the semester.

The presentations will focus on the curriculum, the application process, options for Penn State undergraduates, program requirements, leadership programs, careers in public policy, and graduates' earning potential. The live sessions will last 60 minutes and include time for questions from attendees.

The webinar schedule is:

  • Monday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m.
  • Monday, March 14, at 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 13, at 1 p.m.

Rebecca LaBelle, MPP class of 2022, and ShiAnne Mack, MPP class of 2023, will answer questions from participants and discuss their motivations for pursuing advanced degrees in public policy at Penn State. Stephen Moczydlowski, enrollment and advising manager for the school, will provide an overview of the program during each webinar.

Mack earned her bachelor of arts in psychology and criminology from Penn State. She decided to combine her interest in criminology and criminal justice by pursuing a master's degree in public policy.

"Talking to prospective students about the program allows them to see the University, and the MPP program, from a more personal perspective. It gives students the ability to ask questions they typically wouldn't and receive an answer from someone currently completing the program," said Mack. "It's always fun answering questions about Penn State and helping people potentially see themselves as a future MPP student."

LaBelle graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2020, earning a bachelor's degree in political science. She chose to pursue her MPP with a specialization in health policy because she wants to increase the efficacy of health care and provide more equitable care for citizens in the United States. This semester, LaBelle is working on a capstone project with the Virginia Department of Health. The project extends the work she began during her internship under Dr. Danny TK Avula on the state's COVID-19 policy.

"I am always excited to speak with students about this wonderful program. I have enjoyed the last year and a half here at Penn State, and I hope more students will consider this degree program," LaBelle said.

Online registration is required; the streaming link will be provided upon registration.

The School of Public Policy was established in 2018 as a hub for policy research and curriculum. Penn State's MPP program is ranked in the top third of programs in the country and attracts students from around the globe.
