UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Two engineers won best poster awards at the seventh annual postdoc research exhibition held Sept. 24 at the Nittany Lion Inn.
Paddy Ssentongo, postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics, won second place for "Murine Model for Post Malaria Epilepsy." He received a cash prize of $300.
Ssentongo is advised by Steven Schiff, director of Penn State's Center for Neural Engineering and Brush Chair Professor of Engineering in the Departments of Neurosurgery, Engineering Science and Mechanics, Physics and Biomedical Engineering.
Manoj Dubey, postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, placed third for "Moving the World Non-Invasively by Dielectric Heating of Wood." He received a cash prize of $100.
Dubey is advised by John Janowiak, professor of wood products engineering, and Kelli Hoover, professor of entomology in the College of Agricultural Sciences.
Postdoctoral researchers from various departments and centers on University Park's campus presented 40 posters. They were judged by peers, faculty members and senior graduate students.
The annual postdoc exhibition is organized by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and receives support from the Graduate School and the Office of the Vice President for Research.
