University Park campus to hold summer 2013 commencement events Aug. 10

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Through the end of the spring 2013 semester, Penn State has conferred a total of 718,496 degrees. As of summer 2013 the University's total number of graduates should approach 721,703.

This summer Penn State expects to award approximately 3,207 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 236 associate, 1,846 baccalaureate, 832 master's, two law and 291 doctoral degrees.

At University Park, three students are expected to receive associate degrees, while 1,502 will be awarded baccalaureate degrees. Approximately 552 master's degree students are expected to graduate, as are 291 doctoral degree candidates.All figures listed are estimates as of Aug. 2.

Commencement at the University Park campus will occur on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Bryce Jordan Center. 

Events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Schreyer Honors College Medal Ceremony in the Founders Room. Undergraduate and associate degree conferral at 10 a.m. will include brief remarks from Penn State President Rodney Erickson.

Summer commencement events at University Park will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with conferral of degrees to degree candidates of the Graduate School, during which Padma Raghavan, distinguished professor of computer science and engineering and director of Penn State's Institute of CyberScience, will speak.
