University Park campus holds summer 2014 commencement events Aug. 16

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This summer Penn State expects to award 3,142 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 202 associate, 1,773 baccalaureate, 889 master’s, six law degrees and 272 doctoral degrees, bringing the University’s number of graduates to an estimated total of more than 742,145. 

At University Park, four students are expected to receive associate degrees, while 1,445 will be awarded baccalaureate degrees. Approximately 709 master’s degree students are expected to graduate, as are 272 doctoral degree candidates.

All figures listed are estimates as of Aug. 14; totals do not include Penn College.

Commencement at the University Park campus will occur on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Bryce Jordan Center. 

Events begin at 9 a.m. with the Schreyer Honors College Medal Ceremony. Undergraduate and associate degree conferral will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will include brief remarks from Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas Jones.

Summer commencement events at University Park will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with conferral of degrees to degree candidates of The Graduate School, during which Marie Hardin, dean of the College of Communications, will speak.
