UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Ten alumni leaders have been voted onto Alumni Council — the Alumni Association’s governing board — and will begin their terms July 1.
New members elected to serve on Alumni Council, along with their vote totals, are Tracy Shillinger Riegel (3,865), David S. Cavanaugh (3,421), Stanley Latta (3,295), Kristin Larson Crossland (3,157), John Shaffer (3,059), Betsy Park Haas (3,046), Liani Trigg (3,008), Beverly Sobel-Redler (2,919), Charonda Hill (2,783), and Charmaine S. Tetkoskie (2,740).
Each of these 10 alumni will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2022. For full information on Alumni Council, visit the Alumni Association’s website.
Alumni Council is an all-volunteer governing body that advises and guides the Penn State Alumni Association on programs and initiatives to uphold its mission of service and support to Penn State. Alumni members of the Alumni Association are eligible to vote in the annual election, which takes place online.
Of the 141,428 eligible voters, 7,875 voted, for a voting percentage of 5.57 percent. The election was administered and results were certified by Votenet Solutions Inc., of Washington, D.C.
Following is a brief biography of each newly elected Alumni Council member:
— Tracy Shillinger Riegel 1985 HHD, West Chester; Riegel is the parent of three Penn State alumnae.
— David S. Cavanaugh 1976 A&A, Philadelphia; Cavanaugh is the president of LandConcepts LLC.
— Stanley Latta 1975 HHD, 1977g Edu, 1981g HHD, 1992g Edu, State College; Latta is a retired assistant vice president of Penn State.
— Kristin Larson Crossland 1991 Edu, Horseheads, New York; Crossland is a higher education professional and self-employed.
— John Shaffer 1988 Com, Las Vegas, Nevada; Shaffer is a program director/news anchor for Beasley Media Group.
— Betsy Park Haas 1980 Com, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; Haas is an associate pastor at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church.
— Liani Trigg 2015 Sci, Conshohocken; Trigg is a salesforce technical account executive at CSS Technical Services.
— Beverly Sobel-Redler 1985 Lib, Fairfax, Virginia; Sobel-Redler is a franchisee of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers.
— Charonda Hill 2006 Com, Pittsburgh; Hill is a manager of marketing and consultant.
— Charmaine S. Tetkoskie 1986 Nur, Coal Township; Tetkoskie is a system director of utilization management for Geisinger Health System.
In addition, and in accordance with the bylaws, the officers of the Alumni Association will be appointing 10 additional members of Alumni Council. The 10 appointments will be announced in the near future.
