UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The December holiday close-down for this year is from the end of normal operations on Thursday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. University operations will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. The official University holidays during this period are Dec. 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30; and Monday, Jan. 2
Although the University is closed on Friday, Dec. 23, it is not a University holiday.
- Employees who earn vacation or earned time will need to account for their time off on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016.
- For employees who do not normally work weekends, the compensatory day earned for the Sunday, Dec. 25, holiday will typically be used for the absence on Friday, Dec. 23.
- Employees in essential services who qualify for compensatory days but who must work Friday, Dec. 23, will still have their compensatory day off for use at a later time.
In accordance with University policy regarding holidays which fall on Sunday, the official University holiday for Jan. 1, 2017, will be on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.
