UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — WPSU will host an alumni trustees candidate forum at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 13, via livestream to introduce alumni candidates seeking to join the University’s Board of Trustees.

Viewers will be able to join the livestream at www.watch.psu.edu/botforum2024/. The program will also be archived for later viewing.

This forum is an opportunity for candidates to introduce themselves to alumni voters and for alumni to learn more about the individuals vying for seats on the Board of Trustees.

Five alumni are on ballot for three seats in this year’s alumni trustees election. The candidates, listed in ballot order, are:

  • Brandon Short '99 Bus, Edgewater, New Jersey
  • Steven B. Wagman '82 HHD, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania
  • Matt McGloin '12 Com, Waverly, Pennsylvania
  • Alvin de Levie '73 Lib, State College, Pennsylvania
  • Carl P. Nassib '15, Bio, West Chester, Pennsylvania

Biographies and statements from each candidate are available at trustees.psu.edu/election/ on the Board of Trustees website.

In order to be a candidate for the board, each alumnus must have received at least 250 nominations, met the qualification to be a trustee and accepted the nomination in writing. This year’s nomination phase was held between Jan. 15 and Feb. 25.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance and welfare of the University. Its responsibilities include — but are not limited to — reviewing and approving Penn State’s budget; setting tuition and room-and-board rates; approving major building projects across all campuses to support Penn State’s academic and research missions; hiring the University president; and authorizing the granting of degrees.

The board is composed of faculty; alumni; leaders from business, industry and agriculture; government officials; citizens; and a student trustee. Nine alumni-elected trustees are on the board, each serving a three-year term.

All Penn State alumni are eligible to vote in the election. Individuals do not have to be Penn State Alumni Association members in order to participate in Board of Trustees alumni elections.

Ballots for the trustee election will be available to Penn State alumni beginning on April 10. All alumni who have already requested and received a ballot for the nomination phase of the election will automatically receive the election ballot to their email addresses on file with the University. Alumni also have the opportunity to access the ballot at PennStateVotes.com on or after April 10.

If alumni do not receive the ballot on or after April 10, they can contact YesElections at PennStateVotes@yeselections.com.

All voting must be completed by the close of the election at 9 a.m. ET on May 2.
