ERIE, Pa. — Ann Scott, community outreach manager for Erie Insurance Group, has been named vice chair of the board of directors of the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows. The 80-member council is composed of regional community and business leaders who advise Chancellor Ralph Ford and the campus leadership team on issues related to economic development and regional need.
Scott also serves on the advisory boards for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Black School of Business, where she will be an executive-in-residence beginning this fall.
“Ann truly understands the community and Penn State’s role as a land-grant institution,” Ford said. “Her professional expertise and experience in philanthropy and community outreach have made her an invaluable adviser.”
Scott oversees Erie Insurance Group’s charitable giving and community outreach, including philanthropy, volunteerism and employee giving. Before assuming her current role with the Erie Insurance Giving Network, she had a long career in human resources, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
In addition to her work with Penn State Behrend, Scott is a member of the Chamber Committee of the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. She also serves on the Erie Together Steering Committee, the Career Street Advisory Board and the board of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. In 2012, the Mercy Center for Women named her a “Woman Making History” for her contributions to supporting women and youth in the community.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and an MBA, both from Penn State Behrend. She and her husband, Thad, reside in Erie with their two children, Desirae and T.J.
