UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Information Technology (IT) will be upgrading the University's voicemail platform later this month to enable future integration with Microsoft Office 365 email and calendaring.
The upgrade transition period will take place from Dec. 12 through Dec. 17. During this time, users will be able to access their voicemail, as usual, through the messages button on the telephone, the secure my.voip.psu.edu portal, or through the remote call-in number applicable to each campus location (e.g. the remote call-in number at University Park is 814-865-4090). Users may contact their local IT service desk for the remote call-in number specific to their campus location.
Voicemail user settings, PINS and personal recordings will be automatically transferred to the new system during the transition period, but users will not be able to make changes to their voicemail profiles or alter personal settings such as PINs or greetings during that time.
Requests for new voicemail service also will be delayed until the transition is complete.
After the upgrade is complete on Dec. 18, any unread or saved messages carried over from the old voicemail platform will be considered “legacy” and placed in separate storage accessible through the messages button on the telephone, the “Legacy Voice Mail” icon on the my.voip.psu.edu portal, or by calling a special temporary remote call-in number, 814-867-4090. Voicemail users will be able to access legacy voicemail through May 31, 2019.
New messages received after the upgrade can be accessed as usual, through the messages button on the telephone, the secure my.voip.psu.edu portal, or through the remote call-in number applicable to each campus location.

Although University policy requires that stored voicemails will automatically be deleted 90 days after they have been listened to and saved, Penn State IT encourages all voicemail users to periodically review their voice mailbox and delete any unread and unneeded saved messages as a best practice.
