UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Commission for Women will hold a series of open houses throughout the month of March for full-time employees interested in learning more about its Mentoring Program. The commission will accept online applications March 1 through March 31 for mentors and mentees for the 2016–17 academic year.
The Mentoring Program promotes professional and personal development for full-time Penn State faculty, exempt and nonexempt staff, and technical service employees by pairing mentees with mentors who can provide advice and resources to help them meet individual and specific professional goals such as career planning, job skills enhancement, and greater University involvement.
Mentors and mentees commit to spending at least two hours per month to participate in the program.
This includes:
- Two hours working as a mentor/mentee pair, including lunch meetings, emails, telephone conversations, etc.
- One-and-a-half hours attending group mentoring activities. There are several of these programs scheduled throughout the year. Although attendance is not mandatory at these events, participants are encouraged to make every effort to attend.
