UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — HealthEquity, Penn State’s provider for Health Savings and Flexible Spending accounts, will introduce multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all online access starting Monday, June 18.
Multi-factor authentication is a process by which members are asked a series of security questions based on data that would be difficult for someone other than the member to obtain. HealthEquity members will be required to complete the MFA when they log in to the HealthEquity portal — as a returning or first-time user — and each time they use a new computer or device to access the portal.
This additional level of security helps if a fraudster attempts to log in to a member’s account using stolen credentials from an unrecognized computer or device.
The security questions will be used in the event you forget your password, get locked out of your account or your email isn’t recognized.
