Important information regarding tax form 1095-C

On Dec. 2, 2019, the IRS extended the due date for the 2019 form 1095-C reporting requirements. This means that the original deadline for issuing form 1095-C to employees has moved from Jan. 31, 2020, to March 4, 2020. Even with the extended deadline, Penn State plans to have the 1095-C forms mailed out to individuals this month.

Form 1095-C contains information about the health care coverage provided by your employer(s). If you were a benefit-eligible employee, or had elected University-sponsored coverage, at any point in the 2019 calendar year, then you should receive a 1095-C.

Because the federal mandate to provide proof of health insurance was repealed, you are not required to file your 1095-C form with your yearly tax return. Employers with 100 or more full-time equivalent employees are required to send 1095-Cs to any employee who was enrolled in their health insurance plan.
