UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Dee Bagshaw, a program manager at Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), has been appointed the institute’s interim administrative director, where she will lead the operations and staff as they implement the Institute’s strategic vision and plans.
Bagshaw will support the executive team by leading administrators and overseeing staff in education and training, research methods, clinical operations, workforce development, pilot awards and community-engaged research. She will work with faculty leadership to implement, track and evaluate programs and activities. In addition, she will oversee portfolio and project management, communications, personnel, finances and will work with the executive team, faculty and senior staff to develop short and long-term strategies to grow CTSI programs that advance the institute’s mission and vision.
In her time at Penn State — more than 24 years, including seven with CTSI — Bagshaw has led the team at the University Park Clinical Research Center and provided expertise on human biomedical research to faculty across Penn State. She has also provided support for CTSI’s Community Engaged Research Core, Biostatistics Epidemiology and Research Design Core and Pilot Project Core.
Bagshaw has also coordinated the multidisciplinary Data4Action Project — a collaboration among three of Penn State’s cross-university institutes, CTSI, Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and the Social Science Research Institute — to study the COVID-19 pandemic and its spillover effects to the health and well-being of Centre County residents and Penn State students.
“Dee’s contributions to the CTSI have been significant and extensive,” said Dr. Jennifer Kraschnewski, who, along with Dr. Lawrence Sinoway is a principal investigator of Penn State’s Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health.
In addition to her current responsibilities, Bagshaw will be the administrative contact for Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute while a search is conducted for a permanent administrative director.
