UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University leaders have confirmed that eligible non-union Penn State employees will receive merit-based salary increases for fiscal year 2021-2022 by the end of September. Pay increases will be reflected in eligible employees’ September 2021 paychecks, and these increases will be retroactive to July 1, 2021.

A 2% pool for merit-based salary increases was requested by President Eric Barron and approved by the Penn State Board of Trustees in July as part of the University’s 2021-2022 operating budget. Actual individual percentages are determined during the employee review process and reflect employee performance.

“Penn State faculty and staff have worked tremendously hard this past year under unprecedented circumstances,” said Lorraine Goffe, vice president for human resources and chief human resources officer. “To echo President Barron, merit increases for our employees this year is of great importance. We want to recognize the extraordinary work that has taken place across the University and renew our commitment to providing competitive pay.”

On Sept. 30, employees can view their new pay information on the WorkLion website by:

1. Logging into WorkLion.

2. Selecting Workday.

3. Clicking on the cloud icon in the top right corner to view profile.

4. Selecting the Compensation tab to view new salary.

5. Specific information about the amount of the increase can be found under the area titled “Pay Change History.”
