UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Employees with questions about the new regulations outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) can find updated answers to pressing questions at https://sites.psu.edu/flsa/faqs/. The new rules increase the number of employees eligible for overtime pay at the University and across the country. The updated FLSA rules take effect Dec. 1.
Eligibility for overtime pay is determined by salary and the type of work an employee performs. Under the new FLSA rules, employees must be classified as non-exempt and will be eligible for overtime pay if their annual salary is below $47,476, up from the previous salary minimum ($23,660).
The FAQs answer a number of questions, including how the changes may impact employees' State health care benefits, retirement savings, taxes and other issues.
General information about the FLSA can be found at https://sites.psu.edu/flsa/about-flsa/.
