UNIVERISTY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is providing improved self-service options for members of the University community to manage their identity and personal contact information in one convenient dashboard. As a result, all Penn State Account holders should log in to accounts.psu.edu to verify their information and make updates as needed.
This enhancement is part of an effort to improve data consistency across Penn State systems and to modernize the University’s Identity and Access Management infrastructure. To that end, data has been normalized between the identity management system, LionPATH and Workday. All personal information changed via the dashboard will now appear in other Penn State systems such as LionPATH and WorkLion. Previously, changes and updates to personal identity information would have to be made and duplicated across multiple systems.
New integrations based on a robust identity governance application, SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ), will ensure that data updated by self-service through accounts.psu.edu is consistently sent to LionPATH and Workday. This includes biographical information like legal and chosen names and personal contact information such as home addresses and mobile numbers.
“We are pleased to have implemented IIQ to modernize Penn State’s identity management practices by allowing for consistent data entry across services and platforms, providing added security for personal information by protecting it in one place, and helping eliminate operational inefficiencies some may have faced when information was different in different systems," Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Don Welch said.
Providing the Penn State community with a single identity management dashboard will also make it easier for those who may change affiliations with the University to keep identity data consistent.
Penn State accounts are unique to the students, faculty and staff they are assigned and will remain assigned to each person even after they leave the University. By consolidating identity data, those who depart and return or change affiliations with Penn State will be able to update their data much easier if needed.
Members of the University community should review their personal data for accuracy by logging in to accounts.psu.edu and selecting the "Personal Information" portal.
