      Penn State hosts first livestream Q&A session for future Class of 2024

      Accepted students and families can watch the event and tune in for the remaining three virtual sessions featuring students, alumni, faculty and members of Penn State’s leadership team

      On May 14 Penn State held the first mini-event in its series — Class of 2024: A Virtual “Welcome to the Penn State Community,” consisting of four livestream Q&A sessions with students, alumni, faculty and members of Penn State’s leadership team. Penn Staters came together to answer questions and help welcome the newest cohort of accepted students and their families to the Penn State community. The archived live event can be viewed at Classof2024.psu.edu.

      "Flexibility to Meet Individual Needs" was the theme of the first day, and participants answered submitted questions around fall, deferrals, financial resources, international students and Flex Start.

      President Eric J. Barron hosted the session and was joined by Yvonne Gaudelius, associate vice president and senior associate dean for undergraduate education; Richard Alley, Evan Pugh Professor of Geosciences; Angela Buccellato, Penn State alumna and owner of The Resume Rescue; and Peris Wambui Wamoni, Penn State Class of 2020 and recipient of the Ardeth and Norman Frisbey International Student Award. 

      Barron closed the discussion by encouraging accepted students to be the people who are changing the future and having an impact on the world by starting their education now at Penn State. 

      “I see a lot of students at Penn State say every day, 'What can I do more, and what can I do better?' And here is a faculty and staff that really wants people to be successful and to help them with what they want to do more and what they want to do better. And, if you take the combination of those two things, you end up with a graduate that runs the future, isn’t sitting back and watching. That’s what I hope for everyone. That instead of watching the world change, you’re the ones that change it.”
