UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State faculty and staff now have a more seamless process for finding, registering for and keeping track of professional development courses with the launch of the new Learning Resource Network (LRN) powered by Cornerstone On Demand.
The LRN and Cornerstone On Demand went live on Aug. 20 at the web address http://lrn.psu.edu.
The LRN and Cornerstone On Demand will provide Penn State faculty and staff with everything they need related to professional development, as well as easier access to registration for online and trainer-led learning modules and professional development transcripts.
“Professional development is critically important to our faculty and staff,” said Susan Basso, vice president for human resources. “This significant upgrade in technology reaffirms our commitment to the continued professional growth and success of Penn State employees.”
The LRN and Cornerstone On Demand offers a more efficient and empowering learning management solution, and gives faculty and staff the ability to:
- Search a single, comprehensive network for educational and training content from multiple providers throughout the University;
- Track and manage progress through an online transcript;
- Complete many programs at their own pace; and
- Keep track of in-person or Adobe Connect sessions with an events calendar.
A collaboration between the Office of Human Resources and Information Technology Training Services, the LRN is a component of Project WorkLion, the multi-year initiative to replace Penn State’s existing human resources (HR) and payroll systems with Workday, a robust human capital management solution that will unify the HR and talent management processes that were designed to attract, develop and retain employees.
Used by businesses and educational institutions around the world, including Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the University of Southern California, Ohio State, University of Miami, Drexel University and Oklahoma State, Cornerstone On Demand is a Workday partner and a global leader in learning management and employee empowerment.
Initially, the LRN powered by Cornerstone On Demand will provide training in the subjects of business skills, technology and compliance. However, additional professional development offerings will be included and additional functionality will be added as Project WorkLion continues.
The LRN and Cornerstone On Demand will serve as a replacement for Skillport, both the main and volunteer portals, which went offline on Aug. 19.
