UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity (CLGBTQE) invites Penn State staff, faculty, and students to apply for affiliate membership beginning Monday, Oct. 10.
Commission members serve an advisory role to President Eric Barron by working on issues impacting the welfare of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) members of the University community. The commission develops policies and programs to create a more equitable and supportive environment at Penn State.
The application period will open at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, and the deadline for submitting applications is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21.
“This is a very important time for the commission, especially as the University launches the ‘All In at Penn State’ diversity initiative,” said Borja Gutiérrez, 2016-18 commission chair. “New members will serve a key role as we focus our efforts on building a more inclusive and diverse community within our commission and across the University system.”
Full-time undergraduate and graduate students and full-time faculty, staff and administrators from all Penn State campuses are eligible to serve. Affiliate members are appointed annually and will serve on one of six standing committees. Staff members should speak with their supervisors about this University service opportunity before submitting an application.
