UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Undergraduate Admissions Office will change its current customer relationship management tool by the end of July to a new product called Slate.

Slate — which was designed specifically for higher education — will be used to communicate to future students, school counselors and parents through email and text messaging. It also will allow prospective students to register for events across all undergraduate campuses at Penn State. Event registration will no longer require the creation of a MyPennState profile prior to registration.

First introduced at Yale in 2000, more than 1,000 institutions now use Slate as their customer relationship tool. Slate uses Amazon Web Services and data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Slate, like the current system, will be integrated with LionPATH.
