UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s public policies will be housed on a new website beginning Oct. 2. The new platform, policy.psu.edu, will succeed the policy section of Penn State’s General University Reference Utility (GURU) website.
The new, modern and mobile-friendly website will host all University-wide policies as a public resource, maintaining the existing policy numbering system for easy reference and discovery, and will offer enhanced search functionality. Since 1994, GURU has provided access to official policies and guidelines maintained by the University’s designated policy stewards as well as applicable forms, procedures and related business tools for individual Penn State offices and units. Links to policies on the old site will automatically redirect to the new site beginning Oct. 2.
On the new website, policies will be organized among 11 categories: academic, administrative, budget, business services, financial, human resources, intellectual property, payroll, research, safety and travel. Those who wish to receive notification when a policy is updated can sign up at https://policy.psu.edu/updates.
Content updates will be made by the University’s policy stewards according to established procedures, while the repository will be hosted by Penn State University Libraries. Prior versions of policies and guidelines will continue to be held by the University Archives, part of the University Libraries’ Eberly Family Special Collections Library.
Procedures and forms that have been housed on GURU pertaining to individual departments, colleges, schools and units will continue to be maintained by the University controller’s office. Navigation to procedures and forms will be included as part of the policy website.
