UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Next month, Workday, the University’s human resources and payroll system, will launch an updated and modernized look, which is designed with simplification and accessibility in mind. The design refresh involves updating the appearance of Workday without changing the system’s functionality.

A few exciting changes will be introduced with this update, the most noticeable being a brand new look for the Workday homepage. Additional changes include:

  • Notifications and inbox icons in an easier-to-access location;
  • Highlighting tools to assist navigating without a mouse;
  • New worklet design with uniform color and contrast, improving readability for all users; and
  • Increased consistency across desktop and mobile experiences.

While many may wonder why the colorful worklets, or icons, are changing, this update delivers several improvements in accessibility, which is an initiative that Penn State has been driving in partnership with Workday throughout the adoption of the software. The upgrades will help ensure that users of all abilities have a more positive experience accessing and navigating Workday.

The new Workday look will launch on Friday, July 13. All normal service and functionality within Workday will remain available throughout the upgrade.
