UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Members of the public can learn about evidence-based care for individuals with opioid use disorder and barriers to access at a Penn State Extension webinar, “Opioid Use Disorders: Treatments and Challenges” occurring noon to 1 p.m. on May 6.
The webinar will examine what evidence shows about how various medications manage opioid use disorder, addresses the stigma surrounding these medications and consider future directions.
Pennsylvania has been one of the states most impacted by the rise of opioid use disorder, and learning about treatment options can be useful in helping those who navigate it, according to organizers.
The presentation also will cover:
- The range of treatments available for opioid use disorder.
- How medications for opioid use disorder function.
- The impact of stigma on individuals seeking treatment.
- Ways to support individuals pursuing treatment for opioid use disorder.
Penn State Extension offers this event at no charge. Space is limited, so preregistration by May 6 is required to receive the link to access the webinar.
