Alternative Spring Break Information Session

Penn State Altoona will offer several information sessions about the 2024 alternative spring break trip to Puerto Rico. All sessions will take place in the Student Success Center, located in room 125 on the lower level of the Eiche Library, on the following dates:

• Thursday, Sept. 14, from 12:15 to 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 5:45 p.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 5:45 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 12:15 to 1 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 12, from 12:15 to 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 5 to 5:45 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 12:15 to 1 p.m.

This alternative spring break is an eight-day excursion in which students experience service-learning by visiting the El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico. Students participate in conservation projects and a disaster relief and resiliency project in the local community. In addition, participants work with the Boys and Girls Club, helping with homework, assisting with recreational activities, and helping youth practice their English. Students also have the opportunity to explore the region's culture.
