Altoona English professor is featured poet at international conference

ALTOONA, Pa. — Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, is an invited featured poet at the University of Bayreuth’s VAD2024 Refigurations in African and African Studies Conference in Germany. Her visit is hosted by the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence at the University of Bayreuth.

Jabbeh Wesley will participate in a series of scholarly engagements upon arrival from Sept. 18 through Oct. 3. As part of her visit, she will read from her books of poetry and do a Q&A for the university community and the public. Later in the week, Jabbeh Wesley will participate on a conference roundtable, speaking about her current life, coming of age, adulthood, her legacy, and the influences on her writing, under the topic, “When Liberian Women Speak.”
